A high-level delegation from the Marshall Islands Tax Reform and Modernization Commission met with the Representatives of the Government of Palau to learn about the implementation of ASYCUDAWorld technology for customs clearances.
The purpose of the visit was to gain a deeper understanding of the tax reform process and how the Palau Government successfully implemented the ASYCUDA system, with a focus on the resulting process changes and the impact on PGST collection.
The delegation sought valuable insights into the re-engineering of workflows and how ASYCUDA was tailored to fit these new operational procedures.
A key highlight of the visit was a live demonstration of Palau’s ASYCUDAWorld system by the Resident ASYCUDA expert, Mr. Mohammed Rizwan Khan.
Mr. Khan showcased the key features of ASYCUDA with an emphasis on the system’s advanced functionalities and powerful reporting capabilities.
This demonstration sparked significant interest among the delegation members, who were keen to understand how the system is aiding in both trade facilitation and revenue generation.
The successful implementation of ASYCUDA in Palau has been a game-changer for the country’s customs processes, streamlining trade and helping businesses comply with regulations more efficiently.
With the introduction of ASYCUDA, Palau has seen improved management of customs clearances and PGST collections, supporting the broader goals of tax reform and modernization.
This exchange of knowledge marks a pivotal moment in strengthening regional ties and fostering collaboration on tax reforms and technology adoption.
ASYCUDAWorld was implemented in RMI and Palau in 2024 with support from the European Union-funded Improving Pacific Islands Customs and Trade (IMPACT) Project implemented by the UN Trade and Development.
