Keeping up with technology is essential, and in the Pacific, ASYCUDA is leading the way in transforming customs and trade processes.

With 15 Pacific Island Nations now using ASYCUDAWorld, trading communities are experiencing faster, more efficient, and digital customs procedures. But it’s not just about the technology—it’s about empowering the people who use it.

The journey from system implementation to smooth daily operations requires building capacity and equipping users with the knowledge and skills to navigate the system with ease. That’s why ASYCUDA offers tailored training programs to ensure customs officers and the trading community are fully prepared.

From pre-implementation training to post-implementation support, ASYCUDA experts provide continuous, hands-on assistance as per requests to ensure everyone stays up-to-date.

At the same time, the European Union-funded, Improving Pacific Islands Customs and Trade (IMPACT Project) is helping to deliver these vital training sessions, ensuring customs officers and local experts can assist others in the community.

For instance, in the Republic of Marshall Islands, from 1 September 2023 to 30 May 2024, approximately 215 trainings for external stakeholders were conducted.

Most of the stakeholders were trained repeatedly on ASYCUDAWorld to ensure that participants well acquainted themselves with the expected level of competency.

From 1 September to 10 November 2023, a total of 74 external stakeholders were trained, 34 of which were female participants. Customs officers, including female officers, received extensive training during this period.

With the need to sustain the ASYCUDA user knowledge and skillsets, continuous training remains necessary to ensure the smooth operation of the system is essential, and thus, it will be an ongoing activity for both internal and external users.

This commitment to capacity building means that ASYCUDA users in the Pacific Islands are well-equipped to handle the system and enjoy seamless trade processes.
