Customs experts from across the Pacific region are participating in a two-week technical training on ASYCUDAWorld hosted by the ASYCUDA Support Mechanism for the Pacific (ASMP) Programme in Suva, Fiji.
The UN Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD) ASMP Programme is a regional initiative designed to assist Pacific Island countries in implementing, managing, and enhancing the ASYCUDA (Automated System for Customs Data) system.
The focus of the workshop is to equip participants with the skills needed to generate valuable reports by extracting and analyzing data captured within ASYCUDAWorld in the customs administrations.
The participants are expected to learn how to effectively use specific software programmes to generate reports successfully including data visualisation and management of dashboard.
These enhanced reporting capabilities will support more informed decision-making, streamline customs operations, and ultimately improve the efficiency of trade and customs management in the region.
By empowering customs officials with these advanced tools, the training aims to foster stronger customs administrations across the Pacific, boosting revenue collection, improving trade facilitation, and enhancing border security.
Running through 25 November 2024, the training brings together 11 customs officials from Papua New Guinea, Fiji, Solomon Islands, Samoa, and Vanuatu to enhance their proficiency, specifically on developing reports using data captured on Automated System for Customs Data (ASYCUDAWorld).
The training is delivered by Mr. Rajesh Tripathi, the Information System Officer at the UN Trade and Development’s ASYCUDA Pacific Programme.
Through the ASMP Programme countries like Fiji, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Samoa, and Vanuatu receive direct support from experts, ensuring they can adapt ASYCUDA to their specific needs and challenges.
The UN Trade and Development backed ASYCUDAWorld system is used in 15 Pacific Island Countries to automate customs processes, improve trade facilitation, and enhance border security through the management of customs data and procedures.
About ASYCUDAWorld: ASYCUDAWorld is a cutting-edge customs management system by UN Trade and Development, aimed at simplifying trade and customs processes.
