As part of knowledge sharing and capacity building efforts, the second series of Trade Tok webinar is scheduled for 6 December 2023.

Trade Tok is supported by the European Union (EU)-funded Improving Pacific Islands Customs and Trade (IMPACT) project at United Nations Conference on Trade and Development ASYCUDA programme.

Targeting customs and trade enthusiasts as well as people familiar with the ASYCUDA operations in the course of their work, the second Trade Tok series is focused on developing more understanding and awareness of risk management in trade across the Pacific.

After attending this interactive learning session, attendees will have a better awareness and understand existing challenges faced by border agencies in enabling expeditious clearance and exercising proper control on international movements of cargo and people at the border.

In addition to the topic discussion, senior officials from Fiji’s and Nauru’s customs administration will share their trade modernisation journey.

The presentation will highlight Fiji’s transformational journey on digitisation and its impact on the nation’s commerce and customs operations, according to Maraia Nasau, Principal Customs Officer-ASYCUDA at the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services. Furthermore, Ryllis Tabuna, the Acting Director of the Nauru Customs Administration, will discuss Nauru’s experience as a new ASYCUDA user.
