The Solomon Islands Customs and Excise Division launched the Scan Doc feature in ASYCUDA World which makes submission of scan documents mandatory from 1st December 2020. This makes it easier for future reference and monitoring since the records are kept securely and chances of being misplaced or altered are eliminated. In addition to transparency, this initiative is also adopting digitalization and paperless trade.

Users were trained on the use of this feature by the ASYCUDA World team prior to the launch in Honiara and Noro. This covers imports as well as exports. The system capacity upgrade was done in order to accommodate the increased usage of storage space and data transmission capability.

Along with the usual Bills of ladings and invoices, brokers also need to submit additional documents such as Evidence of money price paid (EMPP). There are 15 brokers who are using this feature now.
